At Orient Bag, we believe that being a responsible manufacturer goes beyond delivering quality products—it means giving back to communities and maintaining the highest ethical standards across all our facilities. Today, we're excited to share some meaningful updates on our social initiatives and provide valuable insights on navigating today's evolving sourcing landscape.

Backpacks for Brighter Futures: Supporting Education in Africa

We recently had the privilege of donating backpacks to a school in Africa, helping students carry their books and supplies with pride. Seeing the smiles on these young faces reminded us why we do what we do.

Education is a powerful tool for change, and we're honored to play a small part in supporting these children's journeys. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact beyond our factory walls.

Strengthening Our Social Compliance Standards

As global brands increasingly prioritize ethical sourcing, we've invested heavily in ensuring all our production facilities meet internationally recognized standards:

These certifications demonstrate our dedication to fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and environmental responsibility. When you partner with Orient Bag, you can confidently assure your customers that your products are made ethically.

Navigating the 2026 Tariff Landscape: A Smart Sourcing Strategy

The global trade environment has shifted significantly. With the recent adjustments to US-China tariffs, many brands are re-evaluating their sourcing strategies. Here's our perspective on the current situation and how to make the most of it.

Current US Tariff Situation (July 2026)

The trade landscape has evolved significantly over the past year. Here's where things stand for bag imports from our three manufacturing locations:

China

After the May 2025 truce between the US and China, tariffs on Chinese goods have been reduced to approximately 30%.[1] Additionally, the reciprocal tariff increase from 10% to 34% has been suspended until November 10, 2026.[2] However, it's worth noting that the US has proposed an additional 12.5% duty on Chinese goods citing forced labor concerns, which could affect future rates.[3]

Cambodia & Myanmar

For most trading partners outside of China, including Southeast Asian countries, the current reciprocal tariff rate stands at approximately 10-12.5%.[4] Some goods may see rates as low as 15% compound total (including base tariff and Section 232 tariff) depending on the product category.[5]

Tariff Summary Table

Manufacturing Location

Approximate Current Tariff Rate (July 2026)

China

~30% (+ potential 12.5% additional duty)

Cambodia

~10-12.5%

Myanmar

~10-12.5%

The Best Strategy: Diversification

The key lesson from recent years? Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

With tariff policies continuing to evolve, relying on a single production location is risky. Here's how our three production facilities can work together to optimize your supply chain:

Location

Best For

Key Advantages

Myanmar

High-volume, simple items

Very low labor cost, cost-effective for basics

Cambodia

Medium-volume, complex items

Excellent workmanship, Better Work certified

China

Premium & flexible orders

Superior workmanship, fast turnaround, flexible MOQ, competitive labor cost

Why Consider Moving Some Production Back to China?

With the improved tariff situation (down to approximately 30% from previous highs), now may be the ideal time to rebalance your sourcing:

  • 🚀 Speed to Market – China offers the fastest turnaround times in the industry

  • 🔧 Flexibility – Lower MOQs mean you can test new designs without large commitments

  • ✨ Quality – Decades of manufacturing expertise ensure premium craftsmanship

  • 💰 Competitive Pricing – Labor costs remain attractive compared to many alternatives

  • 📦 Supply Chain Maturity – Established infrastructure for materials, components, and logistics

At the same time, keeping production options open in Southeast Asia ensures you're prepared for any future tariff changes.

One Partner, Three Countries, Complete Flexibility

Here's the real advantage of working with Orient Bag: you get access to all three production locations through a single supplier relationship.

Most companies today won't rely on just one production location anymore. But managing multiple suppliers across different countries can be overwhelming—different communication styles, varying quality standards, and complex logistics.

With Orient Bag, you get:

Simplified Communication – One point of contact for all your orders

Consistent Quality – Our standards are maintained across all facilities

Strategic Flexibility – Shift production based on tariffs, lead times, or volume needs

Reduced Risk – Never be dependent on a single country's trade policy

We handle the complexity so you can focus on growing your brand.

Our Commitment to Ethical Manufacturing

Beyond tariffs and pricing, today's consumers care deeply about how products are made. Our recent certifications reflect our commitment to doing business the right way:

  • BSCI Certification (China & Myanmar) – Verified commitment to fair wages, safe working conditions, and environmental responsibility

  • Sedex 2-Pillar SMETA (Cambodia) – Transparent reporting on labor standards and health & safety

  • Better Work ILO (Cambodia) – Partnership with the International Labour Organization to improve working conditions

When you work with Orient Bag, you're not just getting a supplier—you're getting a partner who shares your values.
